Lincoln Chafee, not a Moderate, too far Left Even to be a RINO

-By Warner Todd Huston

Here is the topper for the horrible elections we just suffered through.

Senator Lincoln D. Chafee of Rouges Island is claiming he lost because he is a "centrist"!!

But, it doesn't surprise me that the New York Times gave this loser a platform from which to spew his lies!

Holding to the Center, Losing My Seat
By Lincoln D, Chafee

LAST Tuesday, I was one of the many moderate Republican casualties of the anti-Bush virulence that swept the country. Despite my having voted against the Iraq war resolution, my reputation for independence, the editorial endorsement of virtually every newspaper in my state, and a job approval rating of 63 percent, I did not win. Why?

Back in December 2000, after one of the closest elections in our nation's history, Vice President-elect Dick Cheney was the guest at a weekly lunch meeting of a small group of centrist Republicans. Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine, Senator Jim Jeffords of Vermont, Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and I were honored to have the opportunity to visit with him on the eve of a session of Congress in which, because of Republican defeats, the Senate would be evenly divided at 50-50.

I can't take any more of that. Go to the NYT site if you want to finish reading this clap-trap.

Now, how is it that a "moderate" is someone who votes against EVERYTHING the GOP proposes? Doesn't that more properly make him a leftist? In fact, he is so far left, he doesn't even qualify as a RINO (Republican in name only). He is just an outright leftist. (a 26% ACU rating, by the way)

He didn't lose his election because he is a "moderate". He lost because he is indistinguishable from leftist, Democrats and his constituents couldn't understand why not vote for a REAL Democrat if they were going to have one anyway?

Even if his winning re-election would have kept the Senate in GOP hands, I celebrate this idiot's departure from public life. He was a millstone around our necks for far, far too long.

Go home, Linkie. And don't let the chamber doors hit you in the rear end on the way out!
