Support A Stupid Chief Justice By Rudy Takala
...Chief Justice William Rehnquist administered the oath of office to President Bush last January 20th, making his first public appearance since mid-October. He proceeded to shake the president's hand, but left the podium before Bush could finish his speech. His tracheotomy tube, which helps him breath, was visible; at eighty years old, his retirement is near. Rehnquist has been the chief justice of the Supreme Court since 1986; following his departure, a nomination must be made for a new chief justice of the Court.............................................(posted 01/23/05)
