Where Have You Gone Ross Perot?

President Bush, in his never ending quest to unite the struggling small farmer in Alabama and the unemployed textile worker in Pennsylvania with the poverty-stricken of the hemisphere, has decided that NAFTA was such a swimming success that we should now help those further south. Ceasar's new baby is known as the Central American Free Trade Agreement, or CAFTA, a ridiculous agreement that would create a mutual trade and investment area comprising Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and the former republic known as the USA. I simply cannot hazard a guess as to when the next "name your region-FTA" will take place, but can state emphatically that this is but the beginning.
Much like Bush I could not guess within 3 dollars the price of a gallon of milk, it is my belief that Bush Jr. is most likely in the dark about Joe and Jennifer Six-Pack's concerns about our government's free trade fetish. Does Shrub really desire to send those manufacturing jobs that remained from the last "sucking sound" to Honduras and Ecuador? Is it more important to provide a better living for Quinto in Managua than to secure the borders and jobs of tax-paying American citizens in Texas? Will the Joes and Jens of the lower South and the Rust Belt see it coming or will they be too distracted by the patriotic cover music of Bush's drive to "make the world safe for democracy"?
Dear Mr. Perot, America owes you an apology.
