Ending Earmarks--Changing The Way Congress Spends YOUR Money
Americans For Prosperity begins a new effort to highlight the ills of earmarking
Huge news on the earmarks front from the Americans for Prosperity Foundation:
Tomorrow we’re going to announce the kickoff of a nationwide bus tour that will turn up the grassroots heat in support of true earmark reform and spending restraint. And we want you to help us plan our tour!
Dubbed the “Ending Earmarks Express,” we’re going to roll out of Washington, DC, onApril 7 and visit the sites of some of the nation’s most egregious and wasteful earmarks. Our inaugural swing in early April is largely scheduled, but we're planning to crisscross the nation until Congress passes real earmark reform. That’s where you come in.

It is a tough sell. "Earmarks" isn't the easily understood catchphrase that can rally people who aren't fully aware of how Congress appropriates money for pork and pet projects. But, this is a battle that must be won to begin to lower Federal spending.
Raising taxes is not the solution and we have pretty successfully driven that debate home for most Americans. But, keeping taxes low is only half the solution. The other half is to stop Congressional spending, and it is the harder half, too.
I hope everyone keeps their eye on this effort by American For Prosperity. Get the word out Bloggers. Let's cut the Federal budget.
