Our Newest Op Ed...

"May Day or Mayday in America"

Whoever managed the public relations effort for the May Ist pro-illegal alien rights nationwide "Day without Immigrants" demonstrations should probably resign or be rewarded with a position in the leftist Mexican Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's administration if elected. While the word did get out to exchange the Mexican flags for more American flags this time, the message of the protesters still rang loud and clear, "Were Mexican and we're going to stay." One sign in Phoenix read, "Today we march, tomorrow we vote." The "El Gran" event was organized by a coalition of Latino immigration groups with the expressed purpose as articulated by The Voice of Aztlan to stage "an economic and labor boycott that will paralyze the U.S. economy." (Where is the RICO Act when you need it?)

Mexican Government's Disapproval

Even the Vicente Fox's government tried to advise US Latino leaders to tone down the protests for several reasons not the least of which is the presidential elections to be held on July 2. Originally the May 1 event was just to be about not spending to demonstrate the economic impact of Latino purchasing power, which now amounts to over $820 billion annually. However, proponents of the work boycott, insisted that this is the only way that the US will appreciate the value of immigrant employee even though it would hurt the employee personally and the businesses they work for. Mexican officials however, were more concerned about a backlash which could undermine their immigration policies with the U.S. Mexican immigrants in this country send $20 billion annually to their families back home which is nearly equivalent to what Mexico receives in oil revenues. .............
